Welcome to the St Mary’s Parish Wanganui NZ website.

Situated on the hill near the Public Library in the heart of Wanganui, St Mary’s Church and Community Centre commands a prominent position over looking the city and river.

As you browse through our web site we hope that you will enjoy some of the wonderful features of our church and information that we have provided.

St Mary’s Parish was established in 1851 by priests of the Society of Mary. This association ceased in 2002 with the parish now staffed by Diocesan Priests of the Diocese of Palmerston North. There are currently two priests and a lay pastoral assistant assigned to the parish.

The Pastoral staff has responsibility for the Parishes of St Mary’s and St Anne’s, Wanganui East as well as the Whanganui River Communities. Within the parishes are two Catholic primary schools, St Mary’s and St Anne’s as well as Cullinane College a co-educational secondary school.

Thank you once again for your visit. Please take sometime to explore the rest of the site. Feel free to contact us, we welcome enquires and feed back.
